In these passages the Psalmist writes about God’s eventual judgment. He says, “The wicked will return to Sheol, even all the nations who forgot God.”
The Bible says that Jesus will return to the Earth to be King of the Earth. God the Father has given Jesus authority and power to judge the people and nations of the Earth for their behavior. The wicked will be sent to a place the Bible calls Sheol. It is a place of misery located deep within the Earth.
On the other hand, the righteous will be allowed to live with Jesus and join Him in ruling and governing the Earth for 1000 years. The Bible calls this the Millennial Kingdom. The righteous will not have to face God’s final judgment.
God’s final judgment will occur after the Millennial Kingdom. Those in Sheol will be resurrected to life and stand before God. They will then be judged for their deeds and be assigned varying degrees of eternal punishment in Hell. Knowing this fact should provide motivation to live rightly before God and avoid God’s final judgment.
