This Proverb says, “My son, observe the commandment of your father, and do not forsake the teaching of your mother. Bind them continually on your heart; tie them around your neck. When you walk about they will guide you. When you sleep, they will watch over you; And when you awake they will talk to you. For the commandment is a lamp, and the teaching is a light.”
Solomon spoke this Proverb to his son. However it applies to all who live by the Word of God. In God’s Word He provides us with commandments. God tells us the things we must do and the things we must not do. God’s Holy Spirit then teaches us how to apply God’s commandments in our lives.
Regarding the Word of God, the Bible says, “Thy Word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.” As a lamp, the Word of God illuminates obstacles that will cause us to stumble and fall. As a light, the Word of God illuminates the path we should take if we want to go to Heaven.
I believe the Word of God, the Bible, is essential if we want to successfully navigate and remain on the pathway of life. The Bible should be our daily companion if we want to be allowed into Heaven after we die.
