This Proverb says, “Keep deception and lies from me, give me neither poverty nor riches; feed me with the food that is my portion, lest I be full and deny Thee and say, “who is the Lord?” Or lest I be in want and steal, and profane the name of my God.” As this Proverb indicates it is not good to be very rich or very poor. Both situations will lead to bad things and move us away from God.
The Bible says that when we put our trust in God, God will provide for our needs. He will lead us to occupations that will provide adequately for our survival and prosperity. We should therefore realize that God has provided the blessings that He desires for us.
When we trust in God we will learn to be content in any situation that God places us. The Apostle Paul trusted God totally. As a result he was able to say, “I have learned to be content in whatever circumstance I am. I know how to get along with humble means, and I also know how to live in prosperity; In any and all circumstances I have learned the secret of being filled and going hungry, both of having abundance and suffering need. I can do all things through Him who strengthens me.”
Paul’s attitude is one that we all should share. Such an attitude will lead us to a life of joy and contentment. Such an attitude demonstrates a trust and faith in God that will lead us to Heaven after we die.
