This Proverb says, “He who is generous will be blessed, for he gives some of his food to the poor.” God wants us to be generous to others, especially the poor. He wants us to give to others generously and joyfully. The Bible says, “God loves a cheerful giver.” The Bible also says that God will give to us more than we gave.
Jesus said during His ‘Sermon on the Mount,’ “Give and it will be given to you. They will pour into your lap a good measure-pressed down, shaken together and running over. For by your standard of measure it will be measured to you in return.” If your standard of giving is great, then God’s giving will be greater.
Giving freely and generously to others is evidence of our Faith in God. When we give without undue concern for our own welfare, it illustrates our Faith in the Word of God. We are demonstrating our belief in the words Jesus spoke to the people.
The Bible says that God wants us to have Faith in the Word of God. The Bible specifically says, “Without Faith it is impossible to please God.” Faith in the Word of God is demonstrating Faith or belief in Jesus Christ. The Bible characterizes Jesus as the ‘living word of God.’ We must have and demonstrate this Faith if we want to be allowed into Heaven after we die.
