This Proverb says, “Haughty eyes and a proud heart, the lamp of the wicked, is sin.” The Bible says that God hates pride. It was pride that led Satan to rebel against God. It is pride that keeps people from trusting in God. It is pride that keeps us so away from God.
God is our creator. He created each and every one of us. He enabled us to have certain abilities, and He enabled us to enjoy successful lives with these abilities. If we don’t realize this fact, we will attribute our successes to our own abilities. We will praise ourselves instead of God.
However, God has His ways of removing our pride so that we realize our dependence on Him. When we realize our dependence on God, we are then motivated to praise God for who He is and what He has accomplished. God wants our dependence on Him. He also wants our praise.
The process of losing our pride can be painful. The Bible says, “Pride goes before a fall.” It also says the proud will be humbled. After God humbles us, we can then be more open to God’s guidance in our lives. We can still Enjoy the benefits of the blessings He has provided. However, we will give credit to God rather than ourselves. That is the attitude that God desires in us
