This Proverb speaks of one benefit of being generous. It says, “Many will entreat the favor of a generous man, and every man is a friend to him who gives gifts.” Being generous in giving is a good trait to have. It is beneficial on many levels. This Proverb indicates that a generous person will have friends. People will be attracted to that person. However, the real benefit of being generous is that God will favor them.
The Bible says that God loves a cheerful giver. The Bible also says that it is more blessed to give than to receive. Giving freely and generously to others in need will result in God’s blessings. God will prosper that individual and they will get much more than they gave.
Giving freely indicates that a person does not value their possessions more than they value God. They do not set their heart on their material things. They realize the importance of things that have eternal value.
