These passages say, “A fool’s life brings strife, and his mouth calls for blows. A fool’s mouth is his ruin, and his lips are the snare of his soul.”

The Bible defines a fool as a person who does not believe in God. Such a person rejects the Word of God, the Bible, as being false or irrelevant to the world today. Therefore, they live according to their self-generated view of the truth. They are influenced by the world around them. So, they are unable to separate truth from lies.

Therefore, when a fool speaks, they regurgitate opinions that appeal to them. They only listen to news media that supports their faulty viewpoint. As a result, their words are not thoughtfully generated. They reflect the fool’s faulty foundation.

A fool’s work will not benefit them. Nor will their words benefit others. Their words may well produce anger and confrontations. Their words may also lead to physical altercations and result in physical harm.

A fool’s words also reveal what they believe. The Bible says that God will hold us accountable for the words we have spoken to others. If our words have caused harm, we will also suffer consequences. Worse, if our words have provided evidence of not believing in God, they may well keep us from going to Heaven after we die.
