This Proverb says, “Grandchildren are a crown of old men, and the glory of sons is their fathers.”

Having children is a blessing from God. In ancient Israel women wanted to have children. If they were barren, they and others around them thought God had cursed them.

The Bible says, “Behold, children are a gift of the Lord, the fruit of the womb is a reward. Like arrows in the hand of a warrior so are the children of one’s youth. How blessed is the man whose quiver is full of them.”

Children provide many benefits to the home. They bring joy and love. They provide companionship, and they help maintain the household. Children were essential to those who had farms and lived off the land. They also provided support for their aging parents.

Having children is indeed a blessing, especially when one has children in their 20s or 30s. Having children in one’s youth will enable a person to enjoy both their children and grandchildren.

Grandchildren are truly a blessing. The Bible speaks of the blessings that God bestows on a person who fears Him. It says, “Your wife will be like a fruitful vine within your house, your children like olive plants around your table… may you see your children’s children.” Such the family will be rich and full of love and mutual support. What a wonderful environment to have in one’s old age.
