This Proverb says, “A wicked man receives A bribe from the bosom to pervert the way of justice.”

When we hear the word justice we generally think of our legal system. We think of people who are placed in positions of justice. We think of judges and others who administer justice. Additionally, we think of prosecutors, those who bring charges or indictments against people who have committed a crime. We expect people placed in these positions to be unbiased in making their decisions. Unfortunately, this is not always the case.

Today we are witnessing judges and prosecutors who use their positions of power and authority to punish others for political reasons. Judges and prosecutors are elected by the people. They are not appointed. In order to gain the votes they need to be selected as judges and prosecutors, they may promise their voters to punish certain people if they are elected. In so doing, they are actually receiving bribes in the form of votes.

Such judges and prosecutors are being bought by those who elect them. They are being bought to render biased judgment for political reasons.

This Proverb indicates that judges and prosecutors who accept such bribes our wicked people. Their actions are evil. Their actions hurt others in an unjust way.

The Bible says that God hates evil. Those who practice evil are hurting others. They are also hurting themselves. If they don’t change their ways, they will die spiritually and spend eternity in pain and misery in Hell.
