These passages say, “The naive believes everything, but the prudent man considers his steps. A wise man is cautious and turns away from evil, but a fool is arrogant and careless.”
In America and indeed the world today we are being increasingly bombarded with lies and falsehoods. Our leadership and the news media cannot be trusted to tell the truth. Therefore we must determine what is truth and what is not. We cannot believe everything we hear.
Unfortunately, there are many naive people who believe everything they hear in the news and from their leadership. As a result, they are led astray in their thinking and actions and make bad decisions in their lives.
How then can we discern the truth? There is only one source of truth in this world. The Word of God, the Bible is that Truth. When we are anchored in the Word of God, we will be able to discern truth and lies in the media and in our leaders.
A person who is anchored in the Bible will be wise and not foolish. They will not be naive and believe everything they hear. They will act with prudence and carefully weigh everything against what the Bible tells them. A person who has God’s Word within them will be prudent and turn away from evil.
The Bible says that lies and deceptions will continue and increase as time progresses. Therefore it is more vital than ever that we have the Bible to guide us through these challenging times.
