This Proverb says, “The way of a fool is right in his own eyes, but a wise man is he who listens to counsel. A fool’s vexation is known at once, but a prudent man conceals dishonor. He who speaks truth tells what is right, but a false witness, deceit.”
The Bible characterizes a fool as a person who doesn’t believe in God or live by God’s guidance in His Word. Such a person thinks that their worldview is correct, and they are not open to the counsel of others. Their mind is made-up, so to speak. However, a wise person listens to the counsel of others. Such a person considers the viewpoint of other people, especially those who believe in God and His Word.
A fool is also characterized as a person who does not conceal their annoyances or frustrations. In other words, such a person complains a lot. Whereas, a prudent person will not burden other people with his or her frustrations.
A fool may also tend to be dishonest and deceive others for personal gain. This is because they are not constrained by God’s Word to be honest. Whereas, a person who believes in God and adheres to the Word of God will speak the truth, even when the truth puts that person at a disadvantage. However, telling the truth always produces the best results. Honesty is indeed the best policy.
