This Proverb says, “Wisdom shouts in the streets, she lifts her voice in the square; At the head of the noisy streets she cries out; At the entrance of the gate of the city, she utters her sayings: “How long, O naive ones, will you love simplicity? And scoffers delight themselves in scoffing, and the fools hate knowledge? Turn to my reproof. Behold, I will pour out my spirit on you; I will make my words known to you.”
This Proverb personifies wisdom to establish its message. To reiterate, wisdom is the ability to act soundly or productively using knowledge and understanding. Wisdom is the ability to make good decisions that will produce good results.
The Bible says that ‘the fear of God is the beginning of wisdom.’ God is our Heavenly Father. As such, He disciplines us for our disobedience to Him when we sin. Gaining wisdom enables us to realize the linkage between God’s discipline and our sins. Wisdom is accepting God’s reproof of our sins and changing our ways. When we do that, we gain more wisdom and the ability to make better decisions.
Therefore, gaining wisdom requires us to realize that we are all sinners. The Bible says, “No one is good, no not one.” Once we accept that, then we can change. God will give us guidance and wisdom to change. We must move away from sin to be allowed into God’s Heavenly Kingdom after we die.
