In this daily Bible reading Moses tells the people about the events beginning 40 years prior to their planned entry into the promised land. He was speaking to grown the children of those who had left Egypt. Their parents had died during the Exodus journey.
Moses told them how their parents resisted entering the promised land because they were afraid of the inhabitants. They did not trust God to help them, even though they had seen God’s great miracles in Egypt. So, God made them wander for 40 more years until all that generation had died.
Moses was now telling this history to the children who had grown and would possess the land. This illustrates the importance of passing to our children the events of our lives, so that they may learn. Especially important is passing to our children knowledge of God and his Word, so that they may live rightly before Him.
Unfortunately this is rarely happening in America today. America used to have strong Faith in God. America was a Christian nation. Sadly, it no longer is. In fact, America has departed from God.
As a result of departing from God, America is in a steep morral decline. God is removing His blessings from the people and the land. The Bible speaks of this decline in the end times. We are seeing it unfold now. The Bible further predicts America’s total destruction. We may see that happen as well.
However, there is some very good news. The Bible says that Jesus will return to the Earth and restore order and God’s blessings. That is great news indeed for those who believe in Jesus.
