In this daily Bible reading is the account of Moses allowing the tribes of Gad, Reuben and the half tribe of Manasseh to take possession of the land Israel conquered east of the Jordan River. However, they would still be required to help Israel conquer all the land west of the Jordan River.

Moses said to them, “If you will not do so, behold you have sinned against the Lord, and be sure your sin will find you out.” This statement provides a sobering thought. We cannot sin and remain unscathed for the rest of our lives. Indeed, we will be punished for our sins, sooner or later. The problem with a long time between our sin and God’s punishment is that we may not perceive a linkage between the sin and the punishment.

I believe that most if not all of our ailments and problems are due to sins we have committed.  The Bible says that we must repent of our sins.  However, we cannot repent unless we know we have sinned.  The only way to know that we have sinned is to understand what the Bible says are sins.

Therefore, we must read the Bible to know how to live our lives.  We cannot rely on the world’s opinion on what is normal and right.  The Bible is our only source of pure Truth.  I therefore believe that reading the Bible and living our lives accordingly is essential if we want to spend eternity in Heaven.
