In this daily Bible reading God instructs Moses on the feasts that Israel was to observe when they occupied the promised land. I believe these feasts served the purpose of keeping God in mind for Israel. They also provided a forum for atoning sacrifices for the sins of the people, so that God could be near to them.
Later, when Israel turned away from God, it was largely because they stopped observing these feasts. They did not keep God in mind. They focused on worshiping demons. God was no longer their focus. So, God departed from them and removed them from of the land.
America is facing a similar situation today. Like Israel, America has departed from God. Parents no longer teach their children about God. As a result, our country no longer embraces Christian values. In fact, America rejects Christian values and embraces evil. What a tragedy.
The former minister of Foreign affairs of France, Alexis de Tocqueville once said, “America is great because America is good. If America ever ceases to be good, America will cease to be great.” This observation has proven to be true. America is no longer good. Accordingly, America is no longer great.
