In this daily Bible reading is the account of God creating the heavens and the earth and all that is in them. God created everything in six 24-hour days. The original language for these passages was Hebrew. The word ‘Yom’ was used for the word ‘day.’ Yom means a 24-hour day, supporting the six-day creation account.

God created everything in the following order: Day one. God separated the light from the darkness. Day two. God created Heaven. Day three. God created the land and the sea. God also created vegetation. Day four. God created the sun and the moon and the stars. Day five. God created birds, sea creatures, and animals. Day six. God created mankind. Day seven. God rested.

Also in these passages is the account of God creating Adam and Eve. This is somewhat confusing when compared to the creation of mankind during the sixth day. It is difficult to reconcile the two accounts, but I believe them both to be true. I believe that God did create other humans besides Adam and Eve. But the account of Adam and Eve is pivotal to the story of the fall of mankind into sin.

The entire Bible is the story of God’s redemption of mankind after they turned to sin. One must  believe the Bible to be true before one can understand it.
