In this daily Bible reading is the account of the Tabernacle and articles of worship being erected for the first time. Moses personally set them up on the first day of the second year after the Israelites had left Egypt. It was erected for the first time while Israel was camping near Mount Sinai. Moses then consecrated Aaron and Aaron’s sons to serve as priests for Israel.
Aaron’s priestly clothing included a breast piece which contained four rows of three precious gems. These represented the 12 tribes of Israel who were precious to God. Also, on Aaron’s shoulders were engraved the names of the 12 tribes of Israel. The words, “Holy to the Lord,” were placed on Aaron’s turbine.
As High Priest, Aaron was to represent Israel and be an intermediary for Israel before God. Aaron and Moses were also to teach the people God’s laws and judge them according to God’s laws. Thus, began the Aaronic order of priesthood in Israel.
Jesus replaced the Aaronic order of priesthood. He is now our High Priest before God. Jesus also teaches us how to live.
The Bible says that Jesus is the ‘Word of God.’ The Bible is the Word of God. Jesus is present in our lives when we live our lives according to the Word of God. The Bible is our only reliable source of Truth. I believe the Bible is essential for guiding us how to live our lives.
