In these passages, Saul once again pursues David intending to kill him. Once again, David had an opportunity to kill Saul. However, David resisted the opportunity, desiring to be obedient to God and not kill God’s anointed King.

David rightly concluded that God would kill Saul in His own time and in His own way. I believe that God was testing David to see if David would continue to be obedient to God and act according to what God deemed to be right.

I believe that God tests believers throughout their lives to see if they will remain faithful to God and be obedient to His Word. Believers will be tempted to sin at all points in their lives, and temptation can be very strong. Believers must therefore be well anchored in the Word of God to know what is right and what is wrong. They must be well anchored in the Bible to know how to endure and resist temptation to do wrong.

Believers must daily put on the spiritual armor of God to be able to resist and stand against evil.  This spiritual armor includes the following:

  1. The Belt of Truth. 2. The Breastplate of Righteousness. 3. The Shield of Faith. 4. Readiness to share the Gospel message. 5. The Helmet of Salvation. 6. The Sword of the Spirit which is the Word of God.
