In these passages is the account of Saul’s decision that lost him his crown and turned God from him. Saul was preparing to fight the Philistines and was waiting for Samuel to come and offer sacrifices to God on Israel’s behalf. However, Saul became impatient and offered the sacrifices himself, violating God’s rules.

There is a lesson here for us today. We must learn to be patient and wait on the Lord. We must never depart from being obedient to God, even if it means near-term hardships.

The Bible says, “Trust in the Lord and lean not on your own understanding. In all ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight.” Remembering this passage in times of anxiety has been a great help to me. It removed anxiety and restored hope.
