In this Psalm Asaph again speaks from God’s perspective. God characterized Israel’s judicial system as distorting justice. God said, “How long will you judge unjustly and show partiality to the wicked? Vindicate the weak and fatherless. Do justice to the afflicted and destitute. Rescue the weak and needy. Deliver them out of the hand of the wicked.”
Evidently, judges were biased. They were probably bribed by wealthy criminals. As God indicated, they were unjust. They freed the wicked people and persecuted those who were righteous. This situation is true today.
America’s judicial system is not just. The guilty are set free. The innocent people are persecuted and imprisoned. The judges are influenced by their political views. As a result, they are biased in their decisions.
The Bible says that this situation will continue until Jesus returns to the Earth. Jesus will become our King, and He will be a very good king. He will rule justly and fairly. He will not be biased. The world will finally be stabilized. It will be a good place to live.
