In this Psalm David speaks again of God’s favor and blessings toward David and toward Israel. David knew that God protected and guided David and heard David’s prayers. However, David said something that indicated God does not hear or heed all prayers. David said, “If I regard wickedness in my heart the Lord will not hear.”

The Bible says, “The prayers of a righteous man availeth much.” In other words, the prayers of a person who lives his or her life according to God’s guidance and direction are effective. God will listen to that person’s prayers and will most likely grant that person’s wishes.

The Bible also says, “Delight yourself in the Lord and He will grant you the desires of your heart.” When I first read this Bible passage, I thought that God would grant me anything for which I prayed. However, I didn’t notice the first part of the passage which indicated that I must first delight in the Lord. If I delight in the Lord, then my desires will be in accordance with the Word of God. Then, God will hear my prayers and grant my heart’s desire.
