In this Psalm David affirms his trust in God to help David survive against his enemies. David says “When I am afraid, I will put my trust in God, whose Word I praise. In God I have put my trust. I shall not be afraid. What can mere man do to me?”
David’s entire life was characterized by David’s belief and trust in God. God had helped David on numerous occasions. Even when David was a young shepherd, God helped David to fight off wild animals. Later, God helped David defeat armies. As a result, David was not afraid of his enemies. David was not afraid of other humans.
We, too, should trust God to help us live our lives. The Bible says, “Trust in God and lean not in on your own understanding. In all ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight.” When we place our trust in God, the worries of this world just melt away. Anxieties are removed. We can relax. God will help us. We may not know how God will do this. However, just knowing that God will work all things out according to His will for us is very comforting. It is the best way to live.
