In this Psalm David finishes with the following words: “Men of bloodshed and deceit will not live out half their days.” This indicates to me that the length of our lives here on Earth can be affected by the way we think and live. The Bible says that living our lives according to the Word of God will enable us to live full lives.

One good example is the Fifth Commandment. This Commandment says, “Honor your father and mother that your days may be prolonged and that it may go well with you.” Therefore, obedience to this Commandment will likely produce a long life.

On the other hand, living a sinful life leads to physical and mental hardships. Those who sin are afflicted with diseases and injuries. Many who are truly given over to sin and reject God die early. Unfortunately, these people no longer have the opportunity to repent of their sins and live rightly before God.

The Bible says that those who die without repenting of their sins will not be allowed into Heaven. They will be condemned to eternal misery and pain in Hell.
