This Psalm like many Psalms is written from two perspectives. It has man’s perspective. It also has God’s perspective. Here is a passage from God’s perspective. “Cease striving and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth.”

The fact that the Bible is written from both God’s and man’s perspective clarifies some seemingly conflicting passages. For example, resolving the apparent conflict between ‘election’ and ‘free will’ becomes more doable. Some passages suggest that one cannot lose one’s Salvation. Other passages indicate that some people have fallen away from Salvation because they stopped believing.

From God’s perspective, God knows who will be saved and allowed into Heaven. Man does not. Therefore, a person may erroneously think he or she has been saved and cannot lose their salvation because they believe in Jesus.  However, they must sustain their belief in Jesus until the end of their life.

The Bible does say that those who truly believe in Jesus will be given eternal life.  The Bible defines ‘eternal life’ as knowing God and knowing Jesus.  By this definition, one can lose ‘eternal life’ if they stop believing or depart from the Faith.   One must therefore sustain their belief until they die.

The ones that don’t lose their Salvation are truly God’s elect. God knows who they are.  God knows that they will endure in their Faith. From God’s perspective these people will not lose their Salvation.

The best we can do is to strive to live our lives according to the Word of God and Hope that we will be allowed into God’s Heaven.
