In this Psalm David speaks of God’s light and God’s Truth. David says, “Oh send out Thy light and Thy Truth, let them lead me; and let them bring me to Thy holy hill.” The Bible says that ‘Jesus is the way, the Truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father but through Him.’ When one believes in Jesus, Jesus then becomes for that person the Truth, giving them Life and showing them the Way to Heaven.
As the Light, Jesus illuminates the pathway to Heaven. He also exposes the pitfalls and obstacles that would prevent a person from reaching Heaven.
The Bible also says that Jesus is the living Word of God. Jesus embodies God’s Truth. God has given us His Truth in the form of the Bible. The Bible is the only pure source of God’s Truth in the world.
Therefore, if we want Jesus to guide us to Heaven, we must read the Bible. That is how God speaks to us. As we read and digest the Bible, God’s Holy Spirit will give us insight and understanding. We will then be able to discern good from evil and avoid the evil. The Bible becomes for us real spiritual food. I believe that the Bible is essential for our journey to Heaven.
