In this Psalm David speaks of misery and pain due to sin in his life. He says, “There is no health in my bones because of my sin. For my iniquities are gone over my head; as a heavy burden they weigh too much for me. My wounds grow foul and fester because of my folly.”
God greatly favored David and blessed him abundantly. However, like all of us, David was prone to sin on occasion. God would punish David when David sinned. David would then express pain and misery.
The Bible says that there is a linkage between sin and afflictions. Many people are afflicted with disease and other physical ailments. The flourishing drug industry provides ample evidence of this.
Unfortunately, most people do not perceive a linkage between sin and affliction in their lives. They do not perceive the root cause of their physical problems. If they did, they would do something that would heal them. They would change their ways and turn from sin.
If we want to be healthy and live healthy lives we must repent or turn away from sin in our lives. We must read the Bible to identify what is sin. Then we can avoid sin or turn from it.
