In these passages David continues to expound on the characteristics and benefits of the righteous person. David says, “The mouth of the righteous speaks wisdom, and his tongue speaks justice. The law of God is in his heart; his steps do not slip.” A righteous person has God in his heart.
God guides a righteous person’s steps. God also guides a righteous person’s words and actions. Therefore, a righteous person rightly interprets the Word of God and the world around him or her. He or she knows that God created all things. He or she knows that God is in control. The righteous person is therefore wise in their approach to life. Additionally, they give wise advice to others.
A righteous person enjoys many benefits. For example, God helps the righteous person out of trouble. God protects the righteous person from harm.
Additionally, the righteous person will have a posterity or legacy. His name will continue after he dies. He or she will have heirs.
The Bible says that the righteous will inherit the land. When Jesus returns, the righteous people will comprise Jesus government here on the Earth. They will own the land. Indeed, the righteous will benefit in this life and beyond.
