In these passages David contrasts the righteous and the wicked people. David says, better is the little of the righteous than the abundance of the wicked. The arms of the wicked will be broken, but the Lord sustains the righteous.” The wicked person may be rich and have many possessions, but these will not last. On the other hand, the righteous may have few possessions. However, the righteous will live a more fulfilled life and will be granted Eternal Life.

David also says of ‘the righteous,’ “In the day of famine they will have abundance.” The Bible says that in the end times, there will be much death and destruction. Many will die of starvation. However, the righteous person will have an abundance. He or she will not starve.

Another characteristic that defines the righteous is generosity. The Bible says, “The righteous is gracious and gives.” However, the wicked borrows and does not pay back.”

Finally, David says, “I have not seen the righteous forsaken or his descendants begging for bread. All day long he is gracious and lends; and his descendants are a blessing.”

It is far better to be righteous than to be wicked. As the Bible says, “The Lord does not forsake his godly ones. They are prolonged forever.”
