In this Psalm the writer asks, “Who may ascend onto the hill of the Lord? And who may stand in His holy place?” Then the writer answers, “He who has clean hands and a pure heart, who has not lifted his soul to falsehood.”
These are characteristics of those who will be allowed into Heaven to be with God. Having clean hands and a pure heart means that the person lives rightly before God. He or she avoids living a sinful life. They reject sin and live according to God’s Word.
Not lifting one’s hand to falsehood means not living according to the world’s values. The world’s values are contrary to the Word of God. The world rejects the Word of God. The world rejects God.
Those who will be allowed into Heaven embrace the Word of God. They live their lives according to God’s direction provided by His Word. There is no substitute for God’s Word, the Bible.
I believe the Bible is essential to one’s Salvation. Without the Bible, one cannot know how to live. Without the Bible one cannot know God the Father or Jesus Christ. One cannot have Eternal Life.
