This Psalm contains a specific prophecy about Jesus Christ. It was written about 1000 years before Jesus was born. This prophecy speaks of Jesus’ crucifixion from Jesus’ perspective. It says, “They pierced my hands and my feet. I can count all my bones. They look, they stare at me; they divide my garments among them, and for my clothing they cast lots.”

These things happened precisely as written. There are over 300 such prophecies about Jesus in the Old Testament. Many have been fulfilled precisely as written. More will be fulfilled in the future.

Probability and statistics indicate that it is mathematically impossible for all such prophecies to be precisely fulfilled as written.

Some might say that these prophecies were written after the events occurred. However, the discovery of the Dead Sea Scrolls in 1947 proved that the fulfilled prophecies were written prior to Jesus’ birth.

Therefore, one must realize that the Bible is a miraculous document. It could only have been written by God through various authors. Realizing this should provide ample motivation to read and study the Bible.
