David wrote this Psalm after God had saved David from his enemies. David faced many battles as he established his kingdom. At times David’s situation seemed hopeless. David called upon God to save him.
God did save David, and David wrote the following: “I love thee, O Lord, my strength. The Lord is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer, my God, my rock and whom I take refuge; my shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold. I call upon the Lord, who is worthy to be praised, and I am saved from my enemies.”
David’s situation had seemed hopeless. He had no solution or options that would protect him. David’s only option was to pray for God’s help. That was his best option, and it saved David.
There are times in our lives when we in similar situations. We cannot see a way to solve a major problem in our life. Our only hope, our only option, is to trust in God for help. That is the best choice. When we do that, God will help us out of our situation.
The Bible says that God wants us to trust in Him. The Bible says, “Trust in the Lord and lean not on your own understanding. In all ways acknowledge Him and he will make your paths straight.” I have found in my life that this is absolutely true.
