In these passages the Psalmist says that we must not put our trust in man, who is mortal and dies. Rather, we must put our trust in God, who will exist forever. The Psalmist writes, “How blessed is he whose help is in God, the God of Jacob; whose hope is in the Lord his God; who made Heaven and Earth the sea and all that is in them; who keeps faith forever; who executes justice for the oppressed; gives food for the hungry. The Lord sets the prisoners free.”
As the Psalmist writes, we must live our lives putting our hope in God to guide us, sustain us, and save us from eternal destruction. Only God save us. Mankind cannot.
One of the dangers of belonging to a religious organization with a strong and appealing leader is that some may trust in and worship the leader rather than God. When this happens, the leader controls the followers of his religion. They become trapped in the religion.
Furthermore, the leader may teach them doctrines that are not in the Word of God. When this happens, the people will depart from the pathway that leads to Heaven. They will then be on a pathway that leads to Hell.
