In this Psalm written by King David, David speaks of God’s promise that David’s descendants would occupy the Throne forever. However, it would appear that David’s descendants no longer occupy the Throne of Israel. But they still do. However, the Throne is not in Jerusalem now.

The last king that occupied the Throne of Israel in Jerusalem was king Zedekiah. He was removed from the Throne of Israel when Babylon conquered Israel in 587 BC. However, after he was removed, Jeremiah the Prophet traveled to Ireland with one of King Zedekiah’s daughters.

There is ample evidence that Jeremiah became a person of renown in Ireland. More importantly, King Zedekiah’s daughter married the King of Ireland. David’s lineage was therefore preserved. This lineage continued in Ireland and Scotland. Then it moved to England. Present-day King Charles is in that lineage.

The Bible says that one day Jesus will return to the Earth. He will become King of Israel and rule from Jerusalem. Jesus is also in the lineage of King David. Jesus is the son of God. He was also a human, born into the tribe of Judah. Therefore, God’s promise to David is intact. Jesus will become King and rule forever.
