In this Psalm David expresses his sorrow for God’s seeming absence in David’s life. David says, “How long, O Lord? Will Thou forget me forever? How long wilt Thou hide Thy face from me?”
David’s condition is not unusual. Believers go through periods of suffering and trials in which God is seemingly absent in their lives. Prayers don’t seem to be answered, and God’s presence is not evident. It is during these times that we must persevere in our belief and Faith in God.
The Bible says, “Without Faith it is impossible to please God. Our Faith is extremely important to God, and God will regularly test our Faith to see if it is genuine.
Genuine Faith will be evident during times of suffering and despair. It is during those times that Faith is most difficult to express. During those times we will be tempted to depart from our Faith in God and follow the world’s advice. We must not do that.
David knew that God would not abandon him. David said, “I have trusted in Thy lovingkindness. My heart shall rejoice in thy Salvation.” God did not abandon David. God will not abandon us either.
