In this Psalm we get a glimpse of what God thinks of those who turn away from living rightly before God. The Psalmist writes, “As for those who turn aside to their crooked ways, the Lord will lead them away with doers of iniquity.” Turning away from believing in God is a serious thing.
Many churches teach that once a person professes belief in Jesus Christ that they gain ‘Eternal Life.’ As a result, they are guaranteed entrance into Heaven. These churches also teach that nothing can prevent their entrance into Heaven. They also teach that a person who professes belief returns to a sinful life will still get into Heaven. However, they may not get as many rewards as others who don’t live in sin. The Bible does not teach this.
The Bible says that if a person believes and enjoys the blessings associated with their belief, they must not turn back to sin. If they do, the Bible says that it is impossible to renew them to repentance. They will be lost forever. As this Psalm says, “The Lord will lead them away with the doers of iniquity.” They will spend eternity in Hell.
