In these passages the Psalmist proclaims that God’s Word helps him to get out of his afflictions. He writes the following: “If Thy law had not been my delight, then I would have perished in my affliction. I will never forget Thy precepts, for by them Thou hast revived me.”

We will be afflicted many times in our lives. And we may be brought down emotionally due to some problem that we may encounter. We may even feel hopeless as we focus on the problem, and we may just want to give up. During those occasions we can be helped and encouraged by recalling certain Bible passages.

Recalling certain encouraging Bible passages will redirect our focus away from our problem. They will remind us that God is in control of everything, and He will protect us. Certain passages may also give us a way to proceed in solving our problem.

While it is true that the Bible can revive us, we must know the Bible for it to have this healing effect. We must be aware of those passages that will help us and heal us. We can only be aware of these passages if we have read and studied the Bible. Reading and studying the Bible will prepare us for those inevitable trials in our lives.
