In this Psalm is a prophecy about Jesus. The Psalmist writes, “The stone which the builders rejected has become the chief cornerstone.” Jesus is that ‘stone.’
Jesus came into the world over 2000 years ago. During His life He performed many miracles and taught the people about the Kingdom of God. Jesus preached a message of love, repentance, and forgiveness. Moreover, He told the people that God the Father had sent Him into the world to save the people from their sins. He taught that the religion of the day was not the key to their Salvation. Jesus was.
Many people came to believe in Jesus and sought to make Jesus their King. Jesus was therefore a major threat to the Jewish religion. The religious leaders rejected Jesus and had Him killed.
However, Jesus was telling the Truth. He is indeed the key to Salvation. ‘He is The Way, The Truth, and The Life. No one can come to the Father but through Him.’
Jesus is indeed the chief cornerstone on which God’s Church is built. The religious leaders rejected the chief cornerstone. However, God’s Church was still built and will exist forever.
