In these passages David writes, “The Lord is King forever and ever; nations have perished from His land.” David is writing about a future event when Jesus returns to the Earth to be King. When Jesus returns, He will cleanse the Earth of sin and evil. Nations that have not demonstrated belief in God will be removed. Jesus will rule as King for 1000 years.
The Bible says that those who believed in Jesus during their lives and then died will be resurrected to life. They will form Jesus’ government on Earth. The Bible says that they will judge the nations of the Earth. They will also judge angels who have followed Satan and rebelled against God. The Bible also says that some who have not believed in Jesus will finally believe and be allowed to remain in Jesus’ Kingdom.
Jesus’ kingdom will be characterized by justice and righteousness. This is dramatically different from what is in the world today. It is a time for which all believers should anticipate with joy. I believe that it is a time that is coming very soon.
