In this Psalm King David speaks to God about the wicked people. David observed that the wicked people prosper and don’t seem to have any problems in their lives. Their wickedness is unrestrained. They harm the weak and afflicted people and take advantage of them. They grow wealthy and are very prideful. As a result, they do not believe in God and see no consequences for their behavior.

However, the wicked are on a slippery slope. Their judgment is coming. It may be out of their sight, but it will happen. The Bible says their judgment will happen suddenly, without warning. They will be destroyed and will spend eternity in agony and pain. The Bible characterizes their destination as a ‘lake of fire.’ They will feel excruciating pain for all eternity.

Believers should therefore not be discouraged with their trials. Their eternal destination is Heaven, which is paradise. The Bible says that the momentary afflictions we may experience here on Earth cannot compare with the paradise we will experience for all eternity.
