This Proverb says, “Deliver those who are being taken away to death, and those who are staggering to slaughter, O hold them back. If you say, “See, we did not know this,” does He not consider it who weighs the hearts? And does He not know it who keeps your soul? And will He not render to man according to his works?”
I believe this Proverb refers to those who allow the destruction of others and then claim to be innocent. Again, it is our motivation that is very important to God.
Some people may scheme and plot with bad intentions. Their words or actions may cause others to make wrong choices in their lives. On the surface their words or actions may appear innocent. However, they may lead another person to make destructive choices.
God knows our inner thoughts and motives. King David wrote in Psalm 139, “Before a word is on my lips thou knowest it already.” God knows what we think, say or do. We cannot hide our motives from God.
If our motives are bad, God will judge us for them. Therefore, we must search our souls and honestly appraise our motives. That may be difficult, because we try to justify our bad motives. We should therefore pray to God that He will in illuminate our true motives. Then, we must repent of bad motives and change our ways.
