This Proverb says, “An excellent wife is the crown of her husband, but she who shames him is as rottenness to his bones.”
I know this Proverb is true, because I have an excellent wife. When a man has an excellent wife, he and his wife are welcomed wherever they go. People enjoy their company, and they are invited to many events. As a result, an excellent wife may enhance her husband’s career. Additionally, an excellent wife will enhance a couple’s reputation in their community.
On the other hand, a wife that shames her husband with her words or behavior will have the opposite effect. She will damage her husband’s career opportunities. Additionally, they will likely be ostracized and not invited to social gatherings.
Therefore, a man should not choose his wife based only on physical attributes. He must rather get to know his potential wife and determine her character. More importantly, a man who is a believer should not marry a non-believer. He should not choose a wife who rejects God. If he does that, the marriage will likely fail.
Choosing a spouse is one of the most important decisions we will ever make. This choice should be made prayerfully and with great care.
