In this Proverb Wisdom continues to speak as a person. Wisdom addresses those who refuse to fear the Lord and seek knowledge. When the inevitable destruction came upon them, Wisdom laughed at their self-imposed calamity. Wisdom also observed that these people will call upon Wisdom during their panic and anguish. However, they will not find Wisdom. It will be far from them.

To this end, Wisdom says, “You neglected my counsel and did not want my reproof, I will even laugh at your calamity. I will mark you when your dread comes, then your dread comes like a storm, and your calamity comes on like a whirlwind, when distress and anguish come upon you. Then you will call upon me, but I will not answer. They will seek me diligently but they shall not find me. They hated knowledge, and did not choose the fear of the Lord.”

God is real. He created each one of us. God also gives us ample evidence of His existence and a lifetime of opportunities to believe in Him. However, there are many who refuse to believe in God. There are many who do not want to live according to God’s guidance for us in His Word, the Bible. They rather want to pursue a sinful life.

Unfortunately for these people, denying God’s existence and rejecting His Word will not make God cease to exist. Denying God will not remove His Truths. Refusing to believe in God will eventually lead to destruction and spiritual death where there is no remedy. Once spiritual death occurs there are no further opportunities to believe in God. How tragic for them.
