In this daily Bible reading is the account of the Jews continuing to rebuild the walls and gates of Jerusalem. However, the Arabs in the land plotted to stop the work by infiltrating in the city and killing the workers.

Nehemiah learned of this plot. He organized the people so that one-half worked on the wall and the other half provided armed protection. Eventually, all were armed and both worked and guarded against their adversaries. Throughout rebuilding Jerusalem’s walls Nehemiah trusted in God for protection, and the work proceeded.

Sometimes in our lives we are faced with challenging situations. We become anxious and worried trying to solve the problems ourselves. At those times we need to remind ourselves what the Bible says: “Trust in the Lord and lean not on your own understanding. In all ways acknowledge Him and He will make your paths straight.” When we put our trust in God the problems are solved, and the way forward becomes clear.

The solutions that are presented to us are frequently not ones that we would have devised. They are from God. The Bible says that God wants us to have Faith in Him and rely on Him for guidance. When we do that, He will bless us and help us.
