In these passages, Jesus continues his ‘Sermon on the mount.’ Jesus said the following words which are disturbing to many: “Enter by the narrow gate; for the gate is wide, and the way is broad that leads to destruction, and many are those who enter through it. For the gate is small, and the way is narrow that leads to life, and there are few who find it.” Jesus is saying that only a few people are going to Heaven after they die.
The Bible says it is difficult to be saved. The Bible also says that we must work out our Salvation with fear and trembling. This is contrary to what is taught in many churches today. Many churches teach that it is easy to be saved and be guaranteed entry into Heaven. Additionally, these churches teach that a person can be assured entry into Heaven by a one-time profession of belief and Faith in Jesus Christ.
These churches further teach that nothing or no person can remove their Salvation from them; not even the person themselves. However, the Bible indicates that we are free to choose our path in life. We are and will continue to be free to choose good from bad and right from wrong. We will continue to have the ability to depart from the narrow path that leads to Heaven. If we do that, The Bible says we will not go to Heaven.
