In this daily Bible reading Jesus speaks to the Pharisees about their refusal to believe in Jesus. They rejected Jesus, not believing that He was the Christ, the Messiah who was prophesied in the Bible. Jesus reminded them of this scripture passage: “The stone which the builders rejected, then became the chief cornerstone.” Jesus was a stumbling block to the Jewish religion, which had morphed into mechanical tradition. He did not neatly fit into their religious structure.

So, it is today. Jesus does not fit into many religious organizations, even some professed Christian organizations. The Bible says that the Gospel message of Jesus is a “stumbling block for the Jews and foolishness to the Greeks.” The Jews still do not believe that Jesus is the prophesied Messiah. The ‘Greeks’ or the world in general view of the Gospel message as foolishness. It is not logical to the world. However, it is God’s plan for the salvation of mankind.

The Bible says that God is Holy and cannot coexist with sin. However, God loved mankind and provided a way for man to live with him in Heaven. The Bible says, “For God so loved the world that He gave his only begotten son, that whosoever believes in Him shall not perish but have everlasting life.” We must believe this if we want to go to Heaven after we die.
