In this daily Bible reading Jesus continues to tell His disciples about the ‘Great Tribulation’ during the end times. This will be a period of widespread death and destruction unlike any time in the past. Jesus said to His disciples, “Unless the Lord had shortened those days, no life would have been saved, but for the sake of the elect whom He chose, He shortened those days.”
Jesus’ words should be very sobering for those who believe that the church will be removed from the Earth before the ‘Great Tribulation.’ Many churches teach that there will be a ‘rapture’ of the church. During the rapture, true believers will disappear and be taken to Heaven. However, the Bible does not teach this.
The Bible says that we must endure to the end to be saved. Therefore, we must prepare ourselves to endure in the end times. We may have to endure persecution, suffering, and even be willing to die for our Faith in Jesus Christ.
If we renounce our belief in Jesus to save ourselves, we will not go to Heaven. The Bible says that ‘momentary pain and suffering cannot compare to our wonderful and eternal experience in Heaven.’
