In this daily Bible reading Jesus is tempted by the devil after Jesus had fasted 40 days in the desert. Satan’s method involved the deceptive use of Scripture passages to try and trick Jesus into turning against God. However, Jesus countered Satan’s deceptions by correctly using Scripture. Satan used isolated Scripture passages, but Jesus considered the entire Bible when He used Scripture passages.
One must know the entire Bible in order to rightly understand any Scripture passage. Some religious leaders today use isolated Scripture passages to influence the masses. In so doing they lead the people astray.
We will encounter many temptations and deceptions from Satan and his demons during our lives on Earth. The only effective defense against Satan’s deceptions is the Word of God, the Bible. Therefore, it is essential to know the entire Bible in order to avoid being deceived.
