In this daily Bible reading Jesus tells His disciples about His return to Earth and how people must be prepared for His return. Jesus said, “Be on guard that your hearts may not be weighted down with dissipation and drunkenness and the worries of life.”
Indeed, my daily focus must not be on the world and its troubles or on the challenges in my own life. Rather, I must keep my focus on the Kingdom of God. God will keep my life in order if I focus on Him and strive to walk rightly before God, obeying His Word. The Bible says, “Seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and the rest will be given you as well.”
I need to keep my personal life in order, living rightly. As Jesus said, I must not drink to excess. Drinking to excess takes away my strength and motivation to obey God and treat my wife as I should. The Bible says, “Do not be drunk with wine. Rather, be filled with the Holy Spirit.”
I must have the strength and attitude to give up my sinful life for God. If I do that, I will receive much more than I gave up.
