In these passages, Jesus tells His disciples, “Whoever seeks to keep his life shall lose it, and whoever loses his life shall preserve it.” It is vitally important that we treasure God and His Kingdom more than our worldly goods. With this attitude we will be more likely to choose correctly when we are faced with decisions.
Sometimes making the right decision may mean giving money or possessions to someone in need. In that situation we may be giving away a material possession that we value. However, making the right decisions will gain God’s favor. God’s favor is far more valuable than a material possession.
The Bible says ‘you cannot love both God and money for you will love one and hate the other.’ One must focus on being obedient to God and walking rightly before Him. This is more important than all of our worldly possessions.
