These passages contain the completion of distributing the land to Israel by tribes. Six cities were also assigned as cities of refuge where a person who accidentally killed another could flee. In these cities they could avoid being put to death by the ‘avenger of blood.’

In early Israel, premeditated murder was punishable by death. There was no appeal or forgiveness. I believe that such justice is necessary for stability and order in any country.

America’s justice system is not just. Many murderers are set free, and the country is destabilized. Other murderers are put in prison for a period, and the country bears the burden for their support. They receive better care there than many poor and homeless people who have committed no crime.

I believe the death penalty should be applied in America just as it was applied in early Israel. This would provide stability and deter other murders.
